HmoobTeen is a magazine produced by a Hmong teen editor team, filled with art and creative writing submitted by the teen editor team as well as HmoobTeen readers. A youth program of Hmong American Partnership, the 28-page magazine is produced in two colors with a four color cover. 3,000 copies are professionally printed on glossy paper and bound. Quarterly issues of HmoobTeen are produced each year (spring, summer, fall, and winter). HmoobTeen reaches over 20,000 readers per issue!
HmoobTeen has two main goals:
1. To diminish the sense of isolation among Hmong teens and validate their experiences by providing a forum where they can express themselves through various forms of work. This includes and is not limited to addressing issues relevant to Hmong teens and potential mental health issues by providing coping strategies and/or resources.
2. To provide a space for youth development. This includes and is not limited to providing teen editors leadership opportunities, the chance to further develop their skills in writing and designing and to learn what it means to run a publication.
