SUNDAY PICK | Open Streets invites bikers, walkers, and Rollerbladers to take over Lyndale Avenue

After a successful debut in 2011, on June 10 Open Streets returns for a second year of non-motorized fun on Lyndale Avenue—a long stretch busy Uptown street will be closed to cars from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Stretch your legs, meet your neighbors, enjoy specials at local businesses. You may find that you’re looking at Lyndale in a whole new way…last year, one of my friends stopped in the middle of the street, looked down, and said, “You know what? This street is really dirty.”

(Disclosure: I serve on the board of the Minneapolis Bicycle Coalition, organizers of the event.)
