Como is the latest area to be sporting a cute new neighborhood restaurant: a Japanese Bistro called Obento-ya.
Located at 1510 Como Ave. SE (next to Pete’s Barber Shop), Obento-ya has a stylish, clean look with floor-to-ceiling windows and a a modern airy dining room. The menu features traditional bento meals, which are a combination of dishes including a main dish, such as chicken, pork, shimp or fish, served along with rice, a green salad, Japanese potato salad and miso soup. Other menu items include a selection of sushi, Japanese noodles, salads, and vegetables.
Prices are very moderate, ranging from as high as $12.95 for a Sushi Deluxe Bento to $1.50 to $5.50 for a variety of meat skewers and sushis. The menu also ranges from more Americanized selections, such as beef and chicken skewers, to more traditional Japanese choices, such as squid, octopus, and Japanese pumpkin.
The hours for Obento-ya, which opened July 16, are Monday-Thursday 11 am to 2 pm and 4-8 pm, Friday 11 am to 2 pm and 4-9 pm, and Saturday 4-9 pm. The restaurant is closed on Sundays.
