Czech Slovak Sokol Minnesota Garage Sale: lots of nifty stuff for a good cause!
Thursday, May 15, noon – 7 p.m. and Friday, May 16, 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.

Saturday May 17: Spring Neighborhood Clean-up
8 a.m to 2 p.m. Pleasant Ave and Victoria St The Fort Road Federation partners with the City of Saint Paul and the Summit Hill Association to organize an annual community cleanup event for residents to properly dispose of large refuse items, recycle materials not collected in the curbside program and share usable goods with others. Thursday, May 22: West 7th Business Association Membership Meeting
Check the W7BA Website for time and location. Agenda includes: policing, Ramsey County River Corridor Study, and We Are West 7th Asset Mapping. The membership of W7BA wishes to thankCladdagh Coffee, Tavern on the Avenue, Joe and Stan’s Sports Bar and Lounge, Seventh Street Social, Shamrock’s Bar and Grill, and Summit Brewery for their hospitality for the 2013-14 cycle of networking events, and to Sokol Minnesota for meeting space for our board of directors.

West End Artists: St. Paul arts scene gets $8M lift from Knight Foundation, $4.5 million for the Knight Arts Challenge: a community-wide contest looking to find and fund innovative arts ideas. The Arts Challenge is open to everyone from independent artists and artist collectives to businesses. Finalists to be announced this summer. For more information:

Fort Snelling Events

Historic Fort Snelling Opening Weekend: Sat 10 am – 5 pm; Sun 12 – 5 pm
Explore the site, visit with costumed interpreters, and learn about life in early Minnesota. Kids can try out the History Hunt scavenger hunt program and earn a special Fort Kid’s button. Over the weekend special tours will be given focusing on African American history in Minnesota.Watch cannon and musket firings, hearth cooking, learn about American Indian history, and try your hand at historic games!

Tuesdays, May 6, 13, 20 and 27: Family Open Gym
10:30 am- 3:00 pm. No registration necessary. Open gym play for infants through preschoolers together with parent or caregiver. Families responsible for setup and tear-down of equipment . (May not be held some weeks if the gym is in use.)

Monday-Friday: West 7th Community Kids After-School Program
2:15-6:00 pm. Serving students grade K-8 with homework help, tutoring in reading and math, social skills, enrichment activities such as art and science, sports and fitness, field trips, healthy snacks and more!
