West End Artists: St. Paul arts scene gets $8M lift from Knight Foundation, $4.5 million for the Knight Arts Challenge: this community-wide contest looks to fund innovative arts ideas. Thursday, Feb 6: Streetcars on 7th: Curious?
2 – 4 p.m. 2nd floor: Cossetta’s Alimentari, Pizzeria, Pasticceria 217 7th Street West. Councilman Dave Thune and Michelle Beaulieu, City Planner, Planning and Economic Development Department will present with Q&A on the proposed streetcar line along West 7th Street.

Saturday, Feb 8: Mississippi Market Food Coop: Chocolate Tasting and Gift Fair
11:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m. Selby Store Peruse the store for samples of delightful chocolate treats & find unique gifts, too! Featuring local chocolatier B.T. McElrath, Pashen bars, Izzy’s Ice Cream, and more! Mississippi Market announced the “Limited Income Entry Program” (LIME) for 10% discounts includeing both a membership payment plan to the co-op and a discount component. Financial assistance programs (SNAP/EBT, WIC, SSDI, Supplemental Security Income, Section 8 housing, Refugee Cash Assistance and General Assistance) qualify.

Monday, February 3: Girl Scout Cadets
6:30-8:00 pm. 6th-12th grade girls participate in leadership, teamwork building, cultural activities, crafts, community service and field trips.

Thursday, February 20: Drive Smart, Driver Safety Refresher Class:
8:45-12:45 This classroom training program is designed to help persons 50 and older improve their driving skills. Course completion is required to initiate auto insurance discounts. Auto insurance companies in most states provide a multiyear discount to AARP graduates! No written or behind the wheel tests will be given. Classes are intended to be non-threatening, interactive and informative. Instructors are trained volunteers. This class is for those who have completed the 8-hour class and need to be re-certified. Please feel free to bring a snack or lunch. Fee: $20 for AARP members (must present AARP card to receive discount), $23 for non-AARP members. Saturday, Feb 1: Ramsey Time Capsule: 1872
Tours at Noon and 1 p.m. It was an exciting year for the Ramsey family as they moved into their new mansion in St. Paul’s fashionable Irvine Park neighborhood. Children can create their own time capsule to take home.

Saturday, Feb 8: History Chef! Valentine’s Day Cookies for Kids
Time: 10 a.m. to Noon In this two hour program, children ages 8-12 will use one of Mrs. Ramsey’s favorite sugar cookie recipes to mix, bake and decorate Valentine’s Day cookies in the restored 1870’s kitchen. After a tour, all enjoy the freshly baked treats and take home cookies to share.

Friday, Feb 14: Ramsey After Dark: The Language of Love
7 p.m. Throughout the Victorian era, love letters, floral bouquets and small gifts were used to indicate a suitor’s intention of marriage. In this one hour Valentine’s themed program, discover what secret messages could be conveyed by these gifts. Enjoy freshly baked Valentine’s Day treats, listen to excerpts from Ramsey family love letters and play Victorian courtship games in the parlor.

Thursday, Feb 27: History Happy Hour: Prohibition Era Cocktails
5:30 to 7:30 and 8:30 to 10:30: Have some bathtub gin with your friends at the Ramsey House. Choose from two different times, happy hour at 5:30 p.m. or an evening cocktail hour at 8:30 p.m. Featuring Jesse Held, cocktail director and bar manager at Parlour and Borough in Minneapolis. This program is for people 21 years and older. Price of admission includes 2 drink tickets and snacks.
