Jefferson Avenue is sporting a new bike lane (although who can see it with all this snow!?) and along with it come lower speed limits.
The short stretch from Lexington Avenue to Victoria Avenue has changed from 40 mph to 30 mph. (I think the signs went up at the beginning of November, at least that’s when I finally noticed them).
That stretch was the only 40 mph stretch on the whole of Jefferson Avenue, so it’s not a big change unless you’re used to flying down that hill. For some, it’s a tough area to remember the change because that part of Jefferson is all downhill (if you’re traveling east) and is right by Ayd Mill Road, where the speed limit is 45 mph.
So next time you’re exiting off Ayd Mill and scooting down that hill, stay at 30 mph and watch out for bikes and speed traps!
