NEIGHBORHOOD NOTES | Introducing Friends of Northeast Library

Print

When is the last time you tried to join an organization that provided a logo, a website, data base management, a base of operation – and coffee!  That’s what those interested in supporting the Friends of Northeast Library find as a start-up plan provided by the Hennepin County Library Foundation.  It’s sort of like the slap on the rear for a newborn.

In a drenching rain stalwart  and possibly water-proof – Northeast supporters recently met to learn about library renovation plans and the  re-established Friends of the Library.  The next meeting of the Friends of NE Library is scheduled for Thursday, October 21, 6:30 p.m. at the East Side Food Co-op, 2511 Central Avenue NE.    As neighbors and community leaders look ahead to the Northeast Library’s re-opening in Spring 2011, the Friends will play a major role as advocates, volunteers, and general supporters of the library’s mission.

To sign up as a charter member of the Friends of Northeast click on www.supporthclib.org/northeast or contact the HCL Capital Projects Office at 952 847-8109.  Membership ($25) provides a complimentary abest seller express coupon, subscription to the Foundation’s quarterly newsletter, discounts and, best of all, a chance to support one of Northeast’s treasures.  Sign up online at www.supporthclib.org/northeast or email northeast@supporthclib.org.

Neighborhood Notes are updates about what’s happening in Twin Cities neighborhoods, submitted by our volunteer neighborhood correspondents (and neighborhood residents), and not edited by the TC Daily Planet.
