It’s time for Carnival and Masquerade Balls in the West End!

Saturday, February 9, The 37th Nordic Ball Danish Festelavn

6:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. C.S.P.S. Hall, 383 Michigan St, St. Paul. Join the Danish Folk Dancers for an evening of dancing to some of the best Nordic bands in the area and a traditional light evening meal. Festelavn is Danish Carnival or Shrovetide. Wear your Nordic dress or carnival costumes and masks. Tickets available at the door for $25.00 each.

Saturday, February 9: 3rd annual Chocolate Tasting & Gift Fair

11:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m., A destination for Valentine’s chocolates and gifts, complete with live music by the Urban Legends Trio. Delectable chocolates, cheese, fruit and chocolate pairings, and lots of sweet treats on hand to sample and purchase. Sunday, February 10: Traditional Mardi Gras II Tea Dance

1 – 5 p.m. The Southside Aces will play their traditional New Orleans Jazz; Cajun2Geaux will cater a menu of Jambalaya, Red Beans and Rice, and Jalapeno Corn Bread; you will supply your alter ego with mask, beads, and get up! Thursday, February 7: Driver Safety Refresher Class (Formerly 55-Alive)

9:00-1:00 This classroom training program is designed to help persons 50 and older improve their driving skills. Course completion is required to initiate auto insurance discounts. Auto insurance companies in most states provide a multiyear discount to AARP graduates! Instructors are trained volunteers. This class is for those who have completed the 8-hour class and need to be re-certified. Please feel free to bring a snack or lunch. Fee: $15, for AARP members (must present your AARP to receive discount) $17 for non-AARP members. Call the center to register.

10:30-11:15 Tai Chi is the ancient Chinese practice of smooth, quiet movements tied to breath that helps people feel refreshed and energized while building strength and balance. It is a great exercise for people of all ages.
