With thoughts of fresh-baked cinnamon rolls (with cream cheese frosting) and coffee percolating I headed for my favorite neighborhood breakfast spot – Urban Harvest. What I found was a locked door and handwritten signs on the windows with the straightforward message “closed.” That was two days ago. Today I went back to make sure I was not hallucinating. The signs were gone, the doors were locked, and a peek through the windows proved there is no longer an Urban Harvest.
This is a great loss to the community. Urban saw more business meetings, community gatherings and heavy-duty Northeast Minneapolis decision-making than any other eatery
in the neighborhood.
This is a sad loss for folks in Northeast Minneapolis and Windom Park in particular. We look forward to an explanation from the owner and landlord alike. And we send our best to the staff – and customers – caught by complete surprise.
