NEIGHBORHOOD NOTE| Don’t Dump on NE Fundraiser

Don’t Dump on Northeast supporters, of whom there are growing numbers, are planning a major fundraiser set for Sunday, March 20.  It’s at the Gasthof zur Gemutlilichke, 2300 University Avenue Northeast.  Festivities are from 3:30-7:00 p.m.

The event includes an all-your-can-eat buffet (seating at 4:00 p.m. and a silent auction.  Cost is $25.

Residents of Northeast and Southeast, recently joined by residents of the Columbia Heights neighborhood, have spoken out for many months against a city/county proposal to build a household hazardous waste transfer station at University and 27th Northeast..  Neighbors call it a transfer/disposal station; public officials use the term “recycling” to describe the same facility.

Back before the snow blocked most  line signs “Don’t Dump On Northeast” signs graced countless lawns and boulevards.  Much has been written in the local press.

The Don’t Dump on Northeast website offers background information and links to more.

Contact person for the event is Sandi Scherff who can be reached at 612 706 0651 email magicmickey@comcast.net.
