Native languages return to schools

Most Minnesotans know the painful history of Indian boarding schools and how it nearly decimated the cultures and languages of First Nations people in this state. Children were forced to give up their native language and were punished for even muttering a few words. Now, fast forward to a classroom full of Ojibwe and Dakota language speakers. KFAI’s Allison Herrera visited a South Minneapolis school that not only encourages the use of Native language, but sees the positive results. [Audio below]
