Murder in Minneapolis has been making a lot of headlines lately, driven by the out-of-control violence shown in the killing of a mother and son, as well as by an unusual number of homicides in a few weeks. The list for June:

Michael Reich during the week of June 4,

Ricky Albert Rowan on June 11,

Mother and son, Katricia Daniels and Robert Shepard on June 12, and

Joseph Sodd III on June 18.

According to the Star Tribune, that makes 18 homicides so far in 2008. In 2007, there were 26 homicides by the end of June.

For the past ten years, the number of homicide in Minneapolis has ranged from 43 to 58 per year.
