Minnesota tax credit for rich “angels” at expense of poor motorists

Representative Bobby Joe Champion (DFL) argues against an amendment that would fund an “angel investment” tax credit at the expense of eliminating a low-income motor fuels tax credit that often helps poor people. The tax credit goes to people who invest in Minnesota to help create jobs. Governor Pawlenty had requested cutting the low-income motor fuels tax credit in exchange for funding the angel investor credit. Despite Represenative Champion’s opposition, the amendment passed 78-54.
