Minnesota Community Sings at Powderhorn Park May 18: Bring a friend, make history

Print

Almost one hundred years ago, right here in our Minneapolis parks, something amazing happened almost every summer night. People streamed from their homes by the thousands to sing together in the Minneapolis parks. In Powderhorn Park, sometimes more than 25,000 people showed up to sing songs in one big voice.

And now a new tradition is building.

The past two years in Corcoran neighborhood we hosted community sings drawing as many as 200 people. This year you can be a part of a historic musical event at Powderhorn Park. Minnesota Community Sings is hosting a huge community sing at Powderhorn Park, two weeks after May Day.

  • May 18th, Powderhorn Park Gym, 5:30-8:00 pm
  • $5 donation requested as you are able
  • Singing during the first hour. Then socialize, hang out and enjoy beautiful Powderhorn Park on a May evening.

I can’t wait to sing with you and hundreds – thousands? – of our friends and neighbors. We are going to pack the gym, and we will take our voices outside if we need to.

Why do this? Because singing is unifying and bonding. It’s fun. And it builds community and connects people. This helps us build the kind of world we want no matter what we are working on.

See you there: May 18th at Powderhorn Park.
