Minneapolis Regional Labor Federation hosts Minneapolis mayoral candidate forum Monday, August 12

The Minneapolis Regional Labor Federation, AFL-CIO will host a Minneapolis mayoral candidate forum Monday, August 12.

The forum will run from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the Ukrainian Event Center, 301 Main Street NE, Minneapolis.

Admission is free and the public is welcome.

Invited and confirmed candidates for Minneapolis mayor include Mark Andrew, Jackie Cherryhomes, Betsy Hodges, and Don Samuels.

The MRLF screened these candidates and several others July 9-10 but has not made an endorsement in the mayor’s race.

Following the July 9-10 screenings, the MRLF executive board invited the four mayoral candidates noted above to the August 12 forum.

The forum will focus on the issues of jobs, economic opportunity and education.

Members of labor unions affiliated with the MRLF will be highlighting the issues and asking questions of the candidates.

The candidates will know the topics in advance, but not the questions,

Two days following the August 12 forum, the MRLF delegate meeting of August 14 may or may not consider a mayoral endorsement.

The MRLF endorsement is the AFL-CIO endorsement.

This year’s general election is Tuesday, November 5.

Minneapolis will not have a primary election this year because Ranked Choice Voting will be used November 5.
