The West of the Rail Business Association (WRBA) and Corcoran Grows invite neighborhood residents to the Local Economy Fair on Sat., July 20. The fair will be held from noon to 5:00 p.m. at Corcoran Park (3334 20th Ave. S.).

WRBA members will be at the fair to help you learn about the variety of businesses that are “in your own backyard” and what they offer to you and the neighborhood. For example, Hiawatha Yoga will conduct a yoga class for fairgoers.

Corcoran Grows, a group of neighbors in the Corcoran Neighborhood who seek to empower their community for self-reliance, will host several workshops, including one at which fairgoers can build their own rain barrel.

There will be a “really, really free” market at the fair as well. Bring items to swap with your neighbors such as clothes, extra produce from your garden, or household goods. Remember that a free market isn’t a trash can so you should bring things that others will want.

The fair will include food and fun activities for the children. For the latest schedule and more details, please check the WRBA website or Corcoran Grows on Facebook.
