It’s been a strange year for Martin Sheen and Emilio Estevez, and it’s only getting stranger: they’re touring the nation’s Walmarts promoting their new movie The Way. They’ll be at the Maple Grove Walmart signing autographs at 4 p.m. on Monday, September 12; the first 75 people to show up will receive passes to a screening of the film that night, a screening after which Sheen and Estevez will answer questions.
The Twin Cities are familiar stomping ground for Estevez, who filmed The Mighty Ducks here. (Check out the Mighty Ducks series Wikipedia page, which features an amusingly extensive analysis of the similarities and differences among the three films.) Will he take dear ol’ dad out to dinner at Mickey’s Diner? Or will the pair enjoy a meal at Applebee’s, in true Maple Grove style? Or will they just grab a 48-pack of frozen enchiladas at Walmart and try to nuke them all simultaneously in the tour bus microwave? I don’t know, but I have a hunch as to what Charlie would do.
