NEIGHBORHOOD NOTES | Local Poet Finds Love in Ice Dams


St. Anthony Park is known as a hotbed of creative folks, even in the coldest of weather. Mark Johanson, a St. Anthony Park resident, poet, writer and editor, won first place in the Star Tribune’s Ice Dam Poetry contest. The poem was published in Jon Tevlin’s column, in the February 16 edition of the Star Tribune. Johanson’s poem compares an ice dam to the author’s love, growing and getting inside the walls of a house. The poem, (In Honor of Valentine’s Day) can be read at
