Quintessential Irish actor Colm Meaney turns in one of his finest performances in this moving story of fate, friendship and national identity.
Kings tracks four childhood pals who emigrated to London from Galway in the late ‘70s, promising to return to Ireland rich and successful, gradually drifting apart as life led them in new directions: Joe (Meaney) runs a successful construction business, Jap and Git are hopeless alcoholics and Mairtin is tied up in a failing marriage. When the death of another friend brings the foursome together for the fi rst time in 30 years, their lives are thrown into sharp focus in this picture of failed ambitions. Adapted from a successful stage play by Jimmy Murphy, this deeply personal drama was Ireland’s submission for the Oscar this year.
