The Minnesota gubernatorial race has ended, with Mark Dayton heading for the governor’s office in January after Tom Emmer conceded the race December 8 in Delano.
The recount still has to officially wrap up, but the recount turned up no surprises and no substantial changes in vote totals. With 100% of the vote recounted, the totals are 919,183 for Dayton and 910,508 for Emmer. According to the December 7 press release from the Secretary of State’s office, the State Canvassing Board planned to meet to review challenged ballots on December 8, 9 and 10. However, the total number of challenged ballots was not enough to change the outcome of the election.
