A pan-Asian fusion restaurant is moving into the ground floor of the Skyscape condominiums at South 10th Street and Portland Avenue.
Otho, a restaurant named after chef Othojuly “Kai” Phanthavong, will feature duck confit, fried dim sum and open-faced pork dumplings.
“We’re taking Thai and Asian ingredients and using French techniques,” Phanthavong said.
Otho will include a bar, lounge and sidewalk seating along 10th Street. The opening is slated for late September or early October.
Phanthavong currently works as executive chef of Zander Café in St. Paul, and he is opening the restaurant with his brother and a pastry chef. Phanthavong said they found a home for the restaurant concept in Elliot Park after searching for venues the past year.
“It’s below a luxury condo and it’s in Downtown Minneapolis, especially in a place where we’re one of the first restaurants to be in that area,” Phanthavong said.
Skyscape’s developers are also working to land a wine shop in the building.
