NEIGHBORHOOD NOTES | Get fit, get fresh air

Print

It’s tough to feel like going outside for exercise when there’s snow on the ground. But the snow will melt and spring will come – eventually. To help the residents of Macalester Groveland get motivated, the MacGrove Community Council has brought back some favorite get fit programs for the Spring.

MacGrove Moves

MacGrove Moves encourages local residents to leave their car at home and walk or bike to at least 15 trips in the neighborhood (or beyond) between now and mid-August for a chance to win some great prizes. You can download your official form online. Fill it in as you go and turn it in completed before 8:00 pm on Groveland Night Out to win. Prizes will be drawn that night. (Date to be determined.) You can turn the form into one of the following locations:

  • Macalester Groveland Community Council
    320 S. Griggs Ave. / 651-695-4000
  • Summit Hill Association
    860 St. Clair Ave. / 651-222-1222
  • Grand Avenue Business Association
    867 Grand Ave. / 651-699-0029

Golden Shoe Hunt

The Golden Shoe Hunt is a treasure hunt of sorts. Each Saturday in May a golden shoe will be hidden in an area where people walk, jog or bike in Mac-Groveland. Find the shoe and bring in to the Macalester Groveland Community Council office to receive your handsome reward, a prize donated by a local business. I don’t have a picture of the Golden Shoe – but I’ll be on the lookout and should I find it I will take a picture before handing it in.

Neighborhood Notes are updates about what’s happening in Twin Cities neighborhoods, submitted by our volunteer neighborhood correspondents (and neighborhood residents), and not edited by the TC Daily Planet.
