The Saint Paul Foundation held its annual Facing Race Ambassador Award Celebration April 19. Facing Race is an initiative in Washington, Dakota and Ramsey Counties that encourages open conversations about race. This year’s award recipients are Herbert Perkins and Margery Otto, codirectors of the Antiracism Study Dialogue Circles (ASDIC). Facilitators conduct a 36 hour program for adults which meets once a week for 12 weeks. The circle participants study historical and sociological readings and watch films, and then engage in dialogue in order to inspire new ideas about structural change around race. Herbert and Margery spoke to KFAI News Director Ahndi Fridell after they won their award. [Audio below]
