On April 14, 2018, TruArtSpeaks will celebrate its second annual “The Endowment” fundraiser and dance party at Icehouse in Minneapolis. The show will feature Brother Ali, BdotCroc, Mally, and DJ Just Nine, and the night will be hosted by Tish Jones.

TruArtSpeaks is a MN-based nonprofit dedicated to cultivating literacy, leadership, and social justice through the study and application of Spoken Word and Hip Hop culture. That may sound like serious work—and it often is—but a big part of Hip Hop culture is having fun. Hip Hop is the counter-narrative, and Hip Hop is also the block party; it’s both the battle cry and the dance break, the movement and the movement.

In that spirit, The Endowment is a dance party. But it’s also a dance party whose proceeds go directly into TruArtSpeaks’ youth development programming– from the Youth Advisory Board, to opportunities to work with professional artists and arts leaders (including those in the lineup), and beyond.
