Save the Kids a leading national grass-roots fully-volunteer organization is excited to release the annual book, “This Place is Hell: Poetry & Art by Minnesota Incarcerated Youth” in their Poetry Behind the Walls book series.

Keno Evol a member of Save the Kids and the Poetry Behind the Walls book series states, “Poetry Behind the Walls book series founded in New York in 2008 is one of the only ongoing book series dedicated to writing and art by youth incarcerated in the world.”

Hanna Maddera a member of Save the Kids and the Poetry Behind the Walls book series states, “Poetry Behind the Walls book series is one of the most important tools in dismantling the school to prison pipeline because it is one of the only places to hear and listen to the youth that are affected by it.”

Dr. Anthony J. Nocella II a National Coordinator of Save the Kids and member of Poetry Behind the Walls book series, states, “Poetry and art allow the youth to release and express in a nonviolent way their experiences, which are nightmares to most people.”

Nationally respected artists performing at the book release include: Joe Davis, Keno Evol, Lizea Harper, DJ Francisco, Truth Maze, and Toki Wright.
