Saint Paul—Theatre Unbound, the women’s theatre, will present The Taming at SteppingStone Theatre in Saint Paul. The show opens onFriday, September 9 and closes on Saturday, September 24. For 17 years, Theatre Unbound has been producing the finest theatre created and produced by women, for all audiences, in the Upper Midwest.
The Taming is a new political comedy by Lauren Gunderson. In the play, a disturbingly patriotic beauty pagent contender kidnaps an ultra-conservative congressional staffer and an ultra-liberal blogger, imprisons them in a hotel room, and demands that they rewrite the Constitution. The Founding Fathers also make an appearance in this ferocious comedy about America’s deep political divides, present and past. The Taming offers a funny and smart look at the craziness of American politics, and in the midst of the craziest and most unpredictable presidential campaign yet, the show is not-to-be-missed!
Theatre Unbound’s production of The Taming is directed by Mel Day(Dark and Stormy Productions, Pillsbury House) and the cast featuresKelsey Cramer (Park Square, Theatre Pro Rata), Julie Ann Greif(Guthrie, Minnesota Opera) and Nissa Nordland (Brave New Workshop, nimbus).
