Last fall in Minnesota, eight Cambodian men were detained by ICE. These are Cambodian refugees who came to the US when they were very young. Five of them have been deported to Cambodia, some having never even been there because they were born in refugee camps outside of Cambodia. The RELEASEMN8 team has been working for months to achieve justice for these families, and fundraising for legal costs to fight for their release. For the families of those deported, the financial and emotional strain is heavy.
Jewish Voice for Peace – Twin Cities is partnering with the RELEASEMN8 to hold a fundraiser for families to help with legal costs, as well as day-to-day costs associated with meals, rent, medical care, clothes, etc., anything that would make their lives a little bit easier during this time.

Following the film we will have a discussion with folks from the RELEASE MN 8 organization to go more in depth about this crisis. We will discuss the current situation here in Minnesota, as well as racist immigration polices that allow these situations to happen.
