Event Details

We know from the environmental justice movement that our green spaces are not neutral ground. Often we speak of environmental injustice in terms of disinvestment – like patterns of hazardous dumps and coal plants in proximity to low wealth communities and communities of color. But environmental amenities – parks, bike paths, rain gardens – are also part of this racialized system. In partnership with Earth Week, Kaleigh and Mira from the CREATE Initiative will be leading a discussion about understanding the role of environmental investments in relationship to property values, real estate speculation, and gentrification.
