Event Details

Kick off Pride Month with activities embracing all families and kids. Get together in the Minneapolis Sculpture Garden to watch local group DaNCEBUMS in action, groove at the Kids’ Dance Party, and make a one-of-a-kind family portrait. Most of all, celebrate what it means to be you!

Art Activity: Funky Fam Portraits
10 am–3 pm

What makes your family special? Weird? Funny? Loving? Capture your family with a truly unique portrait in this activity led by Fiona Avocado.

Fiona Avocado is a COMPAS Teaching Artist who is passionate about facilitating art workshops around self-exploration, curiosity, and intellectual conversation. She is a cartoonist, illustrator, printmaker, and media maker.

Performance: Kids’ Dance Party
10 am–3 pm

The Kids’ Dance Party is coming to the Garden. Dance your heart out to beats spun by local DJ Airman Heat.

Performance: DaNCEBUMS
11 am & 1 pm

DaNCEBUMS presents “moves4you2do,” in front of Spoonbridge and Cherry. Arrive ready to dance as they show off their best moves—and teach you some too!

DaNCEBUMS is a group of five (Kara Motta, Maggie Zepp, Karen McMenamy, Eben Kowler, and Margaret Johnson) making dance collaboratively and non-hierarchically in Minneapolis. Along with keyboardist/vocalist Eric Mayson and percussionist Toby Ramaswamy, they’ve been dubbed “the best dance party in town” as they knowingly move between precise technique and casual pop sensibility.

Tours: Minneapolis Sculpture Garden
