Full Title:
Socioeconomic Disparities in Children’s Health: Protective Factors and Costs of Mobility

Abstract
Low socioeconomic status (SES) is associated with a wide array of negative health outcomes across the lifecourse, including in childhood. This talk will provide an overview of pathways at the psychological and biological levels. The talk will also cover some psychosocial factors that have been found to buffer the effects of low SES on biological markers of risk in youth. The talk will address the effects of upward mobility on health in youth, and whether there are conditions under which mobility can come at a cost.
