Join us to celebrate a powerful year of organizing for worker justice in the Twin Cities! There will be heavy appetizers and refreshments, performers and speakers, and dancing and music. Don’t miss it! Thursday, October 24, 2019 from 5:30 to 9:00 p.m. at CTUL, 3715 Chicago Ave in Minneapolis.
CTUL is a worker-led organization where workers organize, educate and empower each other to fight for a voice in their workplaces and in their communities. We identify the root causes of injustice and work to shift the balance of power between those who have it and those who don’t to improve the lives of our communities for present and future generations.
Dress. At CTUL, we queer the gala (pronounced “gay-la”). Please come in whatever outfit brings you joy — dress up or down, high or low fashion. (See photos below for reference.)
Art. An exhibit of Ricardo Levins Morales’ art will be up in the space!
Food and drink. We will provide heavy appetizers (gluten free, vegan, and vegetarian options) and a range of beverages (alcoholic and non-alcoholic), available as soon as the doors open.
Program. Mingling and social hour from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Our program will kick off at 6:30 p.m., featuring a mix of speakers, performers, and music.
Childcare. Bring your kiddos! We will have volunteers to play with the young ones and lead interactive art activities.
Space. The building at 3715 Chicago is wheelchair accessible, with bumpy pavement and ramps outside the front door. There is an accessible, gender neutral bathroom on the first floor. We are in the process of confirming ASL interpreters for the event and are planning a low-sensory room with soft lighting, noise-cancelling headphones, and interactive arts. If you have any questions or needs around the space or interpretation, please reach out to Sheff (they/them/theirs) at email@example.com.
More than ever, we need your support — your partnership, your wisdom, and your financial commitment — to sustain our organizing. Minnesota’s economy is extremely lucrative for the 1%, but it is built on the backs of an increasingly invisibilized, and increasingly part-time and temporary workforce made up primarily of low-wage workers of color.
We invite you to attend CTUL’s 9th Annual Gala to scale up our wins and transform workplaces across Minnesota. It’s not enough for workers to have a seat at the table. CTUL’s low-wage worker leaders are ready to partner with organizations like yours to run the table and rewrite the rules of the Minnesota economy.
Are you ready to shake things up with us?
