Event Details
We will have a special live event rather than a film. Activist and author Steve Early, a longtime participant in the labor movement, will bring his new book, REFINERY TOWN: BIG OIL, BIG MONEY, AND THE REMAKING OF AN AMERICAN CITY, which explores and analyzes the success of grassroots progressive politics in Richmond, California. Steve’s new book, with an introduction by Bernie Sanders, traces the effectiveness of class-based inter-racial political activism in an aging industrial city which had long been dominated by Chevron Oil. Come for a great conversation with Steve … and with each other.
Note: usually the first Tuesday night of each month, 7pm start, free admission, all welcome.
Special treat: After the film and discussion, our friends at Ward 6 (858 Payne Avenue) invite you to enjoy Happy Hour pricing on drinks ($4 for draft beers, selected wines, and rail drinks.) in the great tradition of labor fellowship and solidarity.
