Shelby Pasell and I spoke about creating something that included stories of undocumented students a couple of years ago when I was leading NAVIGATE MN. Shelby’s work now has a product: (2013) Dreaming in public: the testimonios of four undocumented college students. Undergraduate Thesis, University of Pittsburgh.
I will let you read the thesis yourself, but this work is important because undocumented students’ stories are hardly present in academia. And there is little written by undocumented students too. And Shelby has always been upfront about this: these stories “obviously need to come from the group and the community rather than from me.”
Anywho, take a moment to read the thesis. For sure read the testimonies, which are the students’ words. You can find it here.
And thanks Shelby for putting so much work into this!
