Get ready for February, the dullest, dreariest and most romantic month of the long winter. We just wouldn’t make it without Valentine’s Day to perk things up. The North Loop neighborhood shop, CorAzoN, www.corazononline.com, will be hosting an event on February 4 that will warm everyone’s hearts and inspire some romantic gift giving.
The event called “IDEA LOCAL: Minnesota’s Finest Creatives” will take place from 5 to 9 p.m. at CorAzoN’s downtown Minneapolis location (204 Washington Avenue North). True to its mission to feature local and artistic products for the people, CorAzoN will highlight the work of artists and designers, such as Andrea Bidelman, Kristin Knych, John Hanson, Judy Grasamke, Robert Cohanim, Barry Rubin and Ruthie Stellar and Ginne Peterson. A musical backdrop for browsing the selection of unique and interesting books, bags, jewelry and other gifts will be provided by Sophia and Noel.
Of particular note will be the debut of a new collection by jewelry designer Penny Larsen. If you love keeping it local, be sure to check out Larsen’s new line of Minnesota-shaped charms that can be customized with tags bearing area or zip codes. Larsen will also be showing a line of hand-cut, heart-shaped pendants worked in eco-friendly recycled silver.
CorAzoN is located on Washington Avenue at 10th Avenue South, two blocks from the Guthrie Theatre. Regular store hours are Monday through Saturday, 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., Sunday 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.; 612-333-1662.
Coverage of issues and events that affect Central Corridor neighborhoods and communities is funded in part by a grant from Central Corridor Collaborative.
