Contentious meeting sparks amendment to Minneapolis Civilian Review Authority

Minneapolis City Council Member Betsy Hodges introduced an amendment to the city’s Civlian Review Authority ordinance at the June 30 meeting of the council. The proposed amendment comes on the heels of a contentious meeting between council members, police represenatatives, and community members. The amendment would add teeth to an agency some critics have considered neutered by lack of funding and the powerful police officer’s union, the Police Federation. Hear KFAI’s Ann Alquist report.
