Construction site seeing

Anyone interested in the I-35W bridge work can take a firsthand look at the construction site every Saturday at 11 a.m., beginning Nov. 10.

During the “Saturday Superintendent Sidewalk Talks,” representatives of the Flatiron-Manson construction team will lead community members to the 10th Avenue Bridge to talk about the progress and answer questions. The representatives will also speak to any concerns that develop over the course of construction.

The construction team says it has worked to minimize noise by drilling shafts instead of driving piles into the bedrock foundation of the site. Crews will also limit nighttime noise and limit the “backup alarm” noise of construction vehicles.

Participants can meet at the parking lot next to Grandma’s Saloon at Washington Avenue South and 19th Avenue in Minneapolis. Public parking is available along Washington Avenue South.
