I would like to congratulate the Northeast Minneapolis Arts Association (NEMAA) on their 18th successful Art a Whirl. This well-known annual event to promote the Northeast Arts Community is always a much anticipated event in our region.
Thank you to NEMAA for allowing Eastside Meals on Wheels Program another opportunity to participate at Art a Whirl this year. NEMAA Executive Director Alejandra Pelinka and the NEMAA Board Members have partnered with our organization for the past three years. We were very pleased to have our Meals on Wheels resource table at a new location this year in the Grain Belt Art Studios (Bottling House) where our volunteers promoted our home delivered meals service and sold tickets for our organization’s very first raffle fundraiser. Lynn Speaker and the rest of the talented artists in the Grain Belt Art Studios building were most receptive and it was an honor to be in the presence of so much creativity.
Our goal was to increase community awareness of our program and because of this opportunity we were able to reach out to many people over the weekend. Hopefully our effort will help spread the word about Meals on Wheels and enable us to locate more homebound neighbors to serve. Our vital meal delivery service for our homebound neighbors will remain strong in the community because of responsive organizations such as NEMAA and with the support of Lynn Speaker with the rest of the artists at the Grain Belt Art Studios.
