On Aug. 9, 2013, the city of Park Rapids, MN felled this healthy cottonwood tree to make way for the new Heartland Hiking Trail. It was the oldest living thing in Hubbard County. It measured 70″ in diameter and 16’6″ in circumference. The project needed new sewer lines for the parking lot bathroom. The peace symbol artist is unknown, photo of stump by Steve Peterson.
