COMMUNITY VOICES | Street animation at Open Streets Minneapolis’ Central Avenue event

The third Open Street of the summer in Minneapolis took place on Central Avenue in Northeast on July 28. The street was closed to car traffic from 18 1/2 Ave NE to 26th Avenue NE from 10 am to 4 pm to allow the streets to be overtaken by bicyclists, pedestrians, and all kinds of activity.

This video looks at the Street Animation Station we ran during the Open Street event. We engaged the public to create stop motion animation using the street as our stage.

Open Streets Minneapolis is a project of the Minneapolis Bicycle Coalition. They worked with many Northeast community groups, including the Northeast Minneapolis Arts Association (NEMAA), to put on the Central Avenue event.
