Name: Carol Lichterman
Website: “I am an ‘old fashioned kind of girl.’ I do not blog or Twitter—no interest—but I do use e-mail, especially internationally. I still prefer the telephone for quick responses and quick give-and-takes, but if I feel like contacting someone at midnight, then e-mail is probably the best.”
What’s your job?
“I have a teaching degree. I taught for four years, then gave it up for corporate for more years than I have fingers and toes. I am now back to education in the schools and nonprofits in the arts.”
Other than your job, what are your claims to fame?
“I have traveled to all seven continents, many countries on each, and have collected something from each one. I have more travel collections than I have room to put them in. Also, If there is something exciting going on in the Twin Cities, I seem to be involved or know about it.”
What’s your relationship status?
“I am single. I am so involved with so many different activities that I don’t have time to get very involved, and I haven’t found anyone yet who can keep up with me.”
Where are you most likely to be seen?
“If someone needs a volunteer, I am most likely to be there. Guthrie Theater, Walker Art Center, Science Museum of Minnesota, Ritz Theater, Jungle Theater, History Theatre, Park Square Theatre, Ordway Center for the Arts, State Theatre, Orpheum Theatre, Pantages Theatre, Children’s Theatre, Minneapolis Institute of Arts, art galleries, running races, outdoor concerts, Minneapolis parks, downtown on Nicollet Mall, Minneapolis Technical College, Fair School Downtown, Loaves and Fishes, Loring Park, Minneapolis Central Library, shopping for a good bargain, and volunteering at a host of other nonprofit organizations.”
With whom are you most likely to be seen?
“Like minded arts nuts like myself, and people smart enough to understand my ‘sophisticated’ sense of humor.”
Where were you born?
“Minneapolis, and proud of it.”
In what neighborhood do you live now?
“Downtown Minneapolis, the pulse of the city, where the action is and where I can walk to so many things that I like to do. I was born in downtown Minneapolis, moved to the ‘burbs with my family, and chose to come back to downtown when on my own.”
What’s your ride?
“I walk everywhere I can, but do drive when I need to. I used to love to ride my bike ’til I broke my kneecap and haven’t been able to ride anymore. Does anyone want to buy a raspberry woman’s bike with a cute basket on the front, and mileage unknown?”
What’s the best way for someone to start a conversation with you?
“Didn’t I see you at the Guthrie last night? And the Walker this morning? And the Ordway last week?”
