Name: Carly Wicks
What’s your job?
“I am a receptionist at Southside Adult Basic Education, and on the very sparse occasion I’ll fill in for a shift at Isles Bun and Coffee where they let me blast Eddie Money and Jock Jams to my heart’s content. They don’t let me do that at Southside.”
Other than your job, what are your claims to fame?
“As if anything could be more fame-producing than a receptionist position with Minneapolis Public Schools! If I was to seriously have a claim to fame, though, I think it would be as a performer. I like to work collaboratively on creating new plays. I was most recently in The Learning Fairy at Open Eye. Other things I’ve worked on recently were Egg Lady, Come Back! in Arwen and Emily’s garage, The RMS Duchess of York at the Paper Moose (R.I.P.), and a bunch of stuff with Bedlam.”
Where are you most likely to be seen?
“If there is a dance night like Hot Pants, Hip Shakers, or Soul Friday you can usually find me there. I also am a fan of breakfast, so occassionally you could find me at Modern Times or the May Day Cafe.”
Where are you least likely to be seen?
“I’m not really sure. I like going to new places, and I don’t end up getting to do that very often.”
With whom are you most often seen?
“A bunch of lesbians, theater people, and South Siders—the most frequent and long time offenders being Emily Zimmer and Shannon McCarville.”
Where were you born?
“Jamestown, North Dakota—home of the largest cement buffalo IN THE WORLD.”
In what neighborhood do you live now?
“Seward.”
What’s your ride?
“Car and bike.”
What’s the best way to start a conversation with you?
“By saying something funny? I guess I’m not really sure.”
