Business leader EJ Ajax says four year college not for everyone, offers manufacturing apprenticeships


EJ Ajax, co-owner and vice president of EJ Ajax and Sons. He’s a third generation metal-former and leads a company founded by his grandfather in 1945.

This is the graduation season for Minnesota students. Many high school graduates will go on to a four-year college next fall. They’ve been told throughout their schooling that getting a college education is the key to finding a satisfying and good paying job.

Erick Ajax runs a precision metal-stamping company in Fridley – EJ Ajax and Sons. He needs skilled workers and believes in education, but he does not think a four-year college is the logical next step for every high school graduate in Minnesota.

Accordingly, his company offers apprenticeships in manufacturing.
