On February 9, literary and bookbinding enthusiasts can learn more about the art of bookbinding and even take home a small journal of their own by attending The Writer’s Block’s newest workshop featuring Sarah Fox and MC Hyland.
The workshop, co-hosted by FUSE, Ivory Tower and Voices Merging, will be held in the Lind Hall Library on the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities Campus on February 9 from 5:30 to 7:30. Sandwiches from Acme Deli in St. Paul and beverages will be followed by the bookbinding workshop.
The first speaker, Fox, publisher and editor of northeast Minneapolis’ “Fuori Edition” has had poetry published in “Conduit”, the “Boston Review”, and “Rain Taxi.” Fox has also taught poetry and creative writing in schools and literary centers throughout Minnesota and was awarded numerous fellowships and grants.
Hyland, administrator at the Minnesota Center for Book Arts, is a poet, letterpress printer and bookmaker is the workshop’s second speaker. Hyland also runs DoubleCross Press, a local publisher for emerging poets.
The Writer’s Block Workshop Initiative hosts writing workshops on the University of Minnesota campus to bring together writers, artists, wannabe writers, writing lovers and anyone who is interested in the literary arts! Writer’s Block provides students with workshops facilitated by professionals in the literary field and hopes to cultivate and strengthen a diverse community of literary artists while also providing a creative outlet for publishing and acknowledgement.
