Bachmann seeks blood ‘covenant’ to defeat health reform

Rep. Michele Bachmann, in a fiery speech at a fundraiser for the Colorado-based Independence Institute, got downright biblical in her imagery today. Saying Democratic health care reforms “have the strength to destroy this country forever,” she roused her Denver audience, declaring:

“This cannot pass. What we have to do today is make a covenant, to slit our wrists, be blood brothers on this thing. This will not pass. We will do whatever it takes to make sure this doesn’t pass.”

A week ago today Bachmann told listeners on a “teletownhall” that the health care “battle will be won — on our knees in prayer and fasting.”
