More than books: Minneapolis library offers job search assistance sessions

Looking for a job? Your local library might be able to help. The Minneapolis Central Library offers a Job Search Assistance program on Wednesdays from 1:00-4:30 p.m. with Goodwill Easter Seals employment counselors. The library started with the service in October 2006 and Workforce Solutions funds Goodwill Easter Seals for the sessions.”We have had a lot of job seekers come into the library already and we wanted counselors who can give that career advice,” said Mary Linden, librarian. “Our mission is to help people in the community for what they need to know in order to be successful and reach their goals.”Job seekers can walk in and sign up for a 15-minute time slot for a one-on-one session with a Goodwill Easter Seals counselor to discuss topics such as career counseling, job leads, skills training, placement, support and career advancement.
