“Alcina’s Island: A Picnic Operetta” will be performed free-of-charge at Eleanor Graham Community Garden on Saturday, August 27 by the Mixed Precipitation theatre company. Showtime is from 4:00 – 5:10 pm, so audience members should arrive about 3:45.
The opera is presented in a unique multi-lingual / multi-genre style, combining Handel’s early baroque music with trucker songs and classic country. Quite a combination!
The performance is family friendly and open to the public.

Eleanor Graham Community Garden (Hamline and Ashland)
A five-course spread of locally-sourced food is created and served to connect the story and garden aesthetic.
Actors perform inside of the garden with the action surrounding the seated audience.
Voluntary donations are accepted at the conclusion of the performance, so no one is denied admittance.
Reservations are encouraged because seating is limited and because the cook can then estimate the amount of food he needs to prepare. Go to http://www.mixedprecipitation.org/shows/alcinas-island/tickets-reservations/
In case of rain, an alternative site will soon be announced. There will be a toilet on-site. Keep an eye on this website for updates. Eleanor Graham Community Garden is located at the junction of Ashland Ave. and Hamline Ave. near the on/off ramp to Ayd Mill Road. Walk, bike, or drive if you must (there’s plenty of parking on the nearby side streets).
