TUESDAY PICK | “After School Specials”: Boot camp for artists

Having been an arts editor for over five years, I can attest that a lot of artists—in all disciplines—are absolutely terrible at promoting themselves. That’s understandable: if their gift was PR instead of painting, they’d be in cubicles at Weber Shandwick instead of studios at Northrup King. Still, you’ve got to put food on the work table and wine in the box, and a little promotional savvy can go a long ways toward finding the people who will actually pay you to do what you love. On July 31, the Soo Visual Arts Center hosts the first of three monthly professional development sessions for artists looking to get a little better at waving their own flags.
