******************************
The next event in the Lex-Ham Theater’s Shakespeare play reading series will be The Merchant of Venice on Friday, September 9 at 1184 Portland Avenue, Saint Paul.
Antonio needs to swallow his pride to go to Shylock, whom he has scorned in the past, and ask for a loan. Shylock demands a pound of flesh if the loan is not paid. To make matters worse, Shylock’s daughter, Jessica, steals Shylock’s jewels and money, and runs off with Lorenzo. Thus starts this tale of luck, revenge, and the quality of mercy.
The event starts at 6:30 p.m. with a potluck supper with the reading starting at approximately 7:00. Newcomers are always welcome. No reservations are required. The only things that are required is bringing something delicious to share, a copy of the script, and a love of Shakespeare.
