Cracked Walnut: A monthlong literary reading crawl in the Twin Cities

Since March 18, Cracked Walnut has been presenting 20 literary readings across the metro area, and one reading in Duluth. These readings feature a mixture of over 50 poets and prose artists. The series will conclude on April 12 at Cafe Bene in St. Paul.

TCDP TOP PICK: Minneapolis has proven to be fertile for both poetry slams and the empowerment of women. Hence, presented for your consideration, the Women of the World Poetry Slam holding, for the fifth time around, its yearly championship competition. It'll be three days of female wordsmiths warring from March 6-9 at Kieran's Irish Pub, IPR (Institute of Production and Recording), and Aria at Jeune Lune; as well as workshops, showcases, open mics and side competitions. It's an international happening, with poets converging from across the country and as far as New Zealand. - Dwight Hobbes

I was born and raised in St. Paul, and I still live here. I’m now 25 years old. I’m an activist, an artist, an organizer, and an educator. I work in different media, including hip-hop and spoken word; I organize and participate in different events around the Twin Cities. I’ve curated at least five different open mic series over the past seven years, and I also create my own art, which I produce and share through different media.
