Riverfront Restoration at Pine Bend

Volunteers will learn about one of the most beautiful areas in the Upper Mississippi River Basin, Pine Bend Bluffs Scientific and Natural Area, and assist with critical habitat restoration work in this hidden gem. FMR staff will train volunteers to identify and remove invasive narrowleaf bittercress in an effort to improve the ecological health of the natural communities that are found there.

Raingarden Workshop

Help Plant a Prairie Raingarden

Help plant a prairie raingarden on the Vermillion River!  The Hastings Country Club Golf Course is installing a large prairie raingarden to provide water quality treatment for 46 acres of residential and golf course runoff that discharges directly to the Vermillion River.  Volunteers are needed to help install over 3,000 native prairie plants.

Crosby Shoreline Buckthorn Bust

Help remove invasive buckthorn from shoreline at Crosby Farm Regional Park in St. Paul.  This event marks the beginning of an exciting effort to restore shoreline of Upper Crosby Lake.

Worknight in the Rare Prairie II

On this summer evening, volunteers will learn to identify and help remove spotted knapweed  with FMR Restoration Ecologist Karen Schik. The Department of Natural Resources has identified this encroaching plant as a threat to the health of this important area.
